In Central Kenya, rising incidents of online child abuse by content creators have raised serious concerns as the world embraces technology. On the International Day of the African Child, stakeholders gathered at Deb Muslim Primary School in Nyeri to call for increased vigilance and concerted efforts from parents and guardians to protect children online. The event highlighted the importance of upholding children's rights and educating them about internet dangers to minimize abuse. This day underscores the need for a united approach to ensure the safety and well-being of children in the digital age.
Kiambu County has seen a rise in early childhood education enrollment following an extensive upgrade program initiated last year. Governor Kimani W. Matangi highlighted that the program improved infrastructure across 134 ECD centers, with plans to upgrade 180 more, and introduced a feeding program providing milk and eggs three times a week. The enhancements aim to decongest facilities and encourage more parents to enroll their children in public ECD centers. To accommodate increased enrollment, the county plans to hire 230 new teachers by September, seeking additional budgetary support for further recruitment.
