The Ministry of Education (MoE) will host the Eastern Africa Sub-Regional Forum on Artificial Intelligence (EARFAI) in Nairobi from June 24 to 26, 2024.
Jointly organized with the Ministry of ICT and the Digital Economy, the forum is a collaborative effort by the Government of Kenya (GoK) and UNESCO. The aim of EARFAI is to explore the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to drive sustainable development and societal change in Eastern Africa (EA) and the nearby Indian Ocean islands. The forum will serve as a platform to discuss and shape the AI policy environment within the EA sub-region, promoting the adoption of globally recognized best practices in AI.
The event will feature a series of keynote speeches, panel discussions, and workshops led by AI experts, policymakers, and industry leaders. Topics will include AI's role in education, healthcare, agriculture, and governance, as well as ethical considerations and regulatory frameworks necessary to ensure the responsible use of AI technologies.
To attend or cover the event, participants must register and receive accreditation. More information on the registration process, agenda, and speakers will be available on the official EARFAI website in the coming weeks.
This forum is an important opportunity for stakeholders to collaborate, share knowledge, and drive the AI agenda forward in Eastern Africa, ensuring that the region can fully harness the transformative power of AI for sustainable development.
